In a moment with so much collective grief, in addition to personal grief that many carry, Rita has created this deeply personal offering to support rest and healing. The class will provide you with a nourishing yoga nidra, where you can rest in an embodied space to hold your grief and whatever emotions might arise.
Grief can present challenges for sleeping and rest. Yoga nidra is a potent guided meditation that takes you through the brain wave states that happen during sleep. There will be time for optional journaling at the end of the class.
Processing grief is a layered journey. Rita encourages grieving folks to nurture support, such as a grief support group, spiritual practices, or other modalities for healing. Nidra is a powerful complement.
Beginners are warmly welcome.
These items are recommended for optimal comfort during the practice:
Comfortable clothes
If there is an object that connects you to the person(s) or situation you are grieving, consider having that object in your practice space
Anything that would optimize your comfort, including but not limited to: blankets, cushion for your knees and head, and an eye pillow (scarves work great too!)
Lotion and/or essential oil in a carrier oil. Pick a scent that you find restful and not stimulating. Lavender is often a go to.
Hydration or small snacks; avoid caffeine before the practice
Journal or paper, pencil. Colored pencils if you would prefer to draw, instead of writing.
