An Asana Lab and More

Do you want the tools and support to teach yoga for a diversity of body sizes and abilities? Are you a Yoga Teacher or teacher trainee? This accessible asana lab is designed for you!
Learn and expand your knowledge of how to create a welcoming, safe, asana practice with confidence, empathy and empowerment. We’ll equip you with strong foundations and experiential practice to deepen your capacity to understand the needs of people in bigger bodies so you can confidently teach asana that is truly accessible for “all levels” and “every body”.
Our three day workshop will focus on exploration of these topics:
*Framework and facts around the history of fat phobia (thinness>diet culture>external image focus)
*Trauma informed care and nervous system regulation considerations (fears of being seen/judged & performance anxiety, perfectionism vs practice and play/curiosity)
*Studio environment, marketing, representation and accessible space accommodations

About Bethany Batsell (she/her/hers)

I love sharing and teaching Yoga and accessible asana from my lived experience. As a white-assumed, Afro-European woman who is queer and has lived in a fat body most of my life, it is my passion and purpose to support others in finding healing and self-love through the practice of Yoga.
So many folks with similar, bigger bodies have been conditioned to think they cannot practice Yoga (asana specifically) because they consistently don't see themselves in this practice. And if they do join an "all levels welcome" class or "gentle yoga" class, the teachers are not actually skilled in creating space and variations that aren't just inclusive, but considerate of their needs.
It is my mission to train and guide other teachers and students to feel confident with yoga asana--to find stable, supportive variations that create ease in their bodies and minds so they can confidently and consistently practice.
