Pelvic Power!

Embody Functional Movement of the 3-Dimensional Pelvis in Squats + Walking

Using Franklin Method mental imagery and experiential anatomy of the pelvis, we will explore how to find more ease and connection in many daily life movements (getting in and out of a chair - squatting - and walking) as well as how this might relate to other exercises or asana.

The pelvis is the mediator and the center of forces throughout the body and connecting to the intelligent design and functional possibilities within the pelvis can create ease throughout our whole system! We appreciate our anatomy in motion in this workshop, sensing the subtle (and important), natural movement within the bones of the pelvis. It's you connecting to you - shining a light on the experience of what's happening within.

All are welcome and there will be options for all. Recording will be available to all participants.

About Alison Wesley

Alison (she/her) is a yoga teacher/Faculty Franklin Method Educator and co-wrote Understanding the Pelvis: A Functional Approach to Yoga with Eric Franklin. She coordinates and assists Franklin Method Teacher Trainings and offers virtual classes through her online studio, blending embodied anatomical study with movement of all kinds.

She shares ongoing yoga/movement classes with such wonderful organizations as eBay, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Kaiser Permanente, and the Portland Opera and she teaches Anatomy and Physiology for Oregon School of Massage. She leads in-person, hands-on cadaver dissection intensives as well as online experiential anatomy courses with her cherished colleague, Ann Teachworth. Alison lives for studying what we’re made of, and is forever fascinated with how we communicate with ourselves and others. She believes in making movement accessible, creative, enjoyable and functional.

When she’s not diving into movement, anatomy or philosophy, you can find Alison studying Spanish, writing songs/plays/stories, kickboxing with her dad, singing, dancing Salsa, spending precious time with her one-of-a-kind husband and stepkids, or training their two wildly spoiled German Shepherds.
